Whats up with this oil spill down in the gulf?

It truly is sad, and the sadder thing is that many of the people I have talked about this (mostly older people- 30-60 range), say that not only is the whole thing Obama's fault, but that the animals and environment being affected is not that big of a deal; "It's all being blown out of proportion by the bleeding heart liberals who love nature more than people!"- give me a break, with the people I interact with I myself do love nature more than people, but nevertheless...
