Would this be a sign of menopause for me?

I am a 53 year old American Indian (or native american or first nation or Seminole or what ever the term is for us this year). The past 3 or 4 months I've suddenly sprouted a few hairs on my shins and underarms, This is odd for me because I have never had any visible hair on my legs and underarms. I was thinking this might be a sign of menopause. What do you think? I had a l hysterectomy about 15 years ago so I have not had monthly periods since this surgery.
