How do i get my short curly hair to be less "big" (poofy)? and ow do i get it curlier?

please help i just got a haircut yesterday and its really short and its sortof curly but then not. what are some curly hairstyle updos besides ponytails and a bun for curly hair. and short hair!! hlp would be apreciated -tnaks so much!
